Mode Design’s proposal was based on an environmentally and economically sustainable solution that provided a ‘community core’ facility and flexibility in use. The concept was oriented to capture breezes in two directions, minimise solar penetration in summer, provided service wings that act as a ‘heat sink’ in winter, and utilised natural light and ventilation in the main auditorium.
